Frequently asked questions

Why are the ties only available for pre-order?

Since we announced the launch of Ties to Norway, we have been completely overwhelmed by the positive reaction that our idea has received from all of you!

However, to start the production process we need to order a significant amount of ties for each design, due minimum order quantities that are standard with most manufacturers. This is why we have decided to launch with a pre-order campaign, where you can help us bring Ties to Norway to life.

When will I receive my order?

As soon as we receive 50 pre-orders and the campaign target is met, the manufacturing process to make the ties will begin.

From there, you should receive your order within 6 to 8 weeks from the campaign end.

What happens if the campaign target is not met?

Based on the reaction that Ties to Norway has received so far, we are extremely confident that the campaign will be successful.

However, in the unlikely case that it isn't, we will be in contact and you will receive a full refund.

When will you have more bunad patterns available?

We are working hard on finishing our next designs. While we do not yet have a date planned, we hope to release pre-order campaigns for Øst-Telemark, Trøndelag, Rogaland, Vestfold, and Oslo very soon, with more to come!

Why don't you have real product images of the ties?

For now, we are only able to show mock-ups of the ties as you see in the images for each design.

This is to give a representation as close as possible to the real thing, before we can start production and get a full sample with the complete design. It is possible that there may be some minor differences to the designs in production.

We are extremely happy with the results of our prototypes and the quality of the samples we have received from our manufacturing partner so far. We are confident that you will be too!

What is your returns policy?

We are positive that you will love your new bunad-inspired tie from Ties to Norway, but if that happens not to be the case we have a 30-day return policy which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return.

Inspired by tradition, driven by inclusion.

The Nordlandsbunad was introduced in 1928 by Hålogaland Ungdomslag, drawing inspiration from two embroidered woolen fabric pieces found on the Røyto farm in Vefsn. These motifs were adapted for the bunad's embroidery, featuring stylized floral patterns.

There are two colour variations of the bunad: blue and green. While some associate the blue with coastal regions and the green with inland areas, this distinction is more of a modern interpretation than a historical one.

Our aim with Ties to Norway is to make cultural heritage accessible and wearable for anyone.
